Guidelines & Practices

In the spirit of integrity, transparency, and honesty, we have developed several guidelines and practices that are taken into consideration when making business decisions, working with partners, and creating content. These guidelines and practices are set to navigate us through our day-to-day activities to assist us in making decisions that are beneficial to all parties involved.

Social Media/Other Media Platforms

Content creators for The Nerd Stash are encouraged to create their own social media accounts, YouTube channels, blogs, etc., and use them at their discretion.

Although we allow our staff the freedom to use these platforms as they want, we do reserve the right to act if they are used for the purpose of harassment, discrimination, or slander. Each instance will be investigated and could lead to the termination of the contract with this individual.

Opinions on their personal accounts are not to be considered as a representation of the opinions or beliefs of The Nerd Stash.

Discrimination or harassment is not an acceptable practice at The Nerd Stash.

Representing our Brand

On occasion, our team members may have the opportunity to make public appearances in person or online as a representative of The Nerd Stash. All team members are expected to represent our brand in a positive way (i.e. respectful, thoughtful, without bias or negative opinion, etc.). 

We strive for our brand to be one that is respected in the industry, and our team members are expected to represent this when making appearances on behalf of The Nerd Stash.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is not an acceptable practice when creating content for The Nerd Stash. We strive to give credit to the original source, and at no time will we ever deliberately plagiarize.   We will make every effort to provide attribution to the original source in one of the following ways:

  • Acknowledgment or citation within an article
  • Links to the original source

If you find an instance on our website you believe to be plagiarized, please contact us, and we will investigate and resolve the issue by either providing a citation or confirming it is the writer’s original statement/thought. We genuinely want to resolve any matter in question.

Advertising

A major source of revenue for The Nerd Stash comes through online advertising, which helps us keep talented content creators who provide you with the latest entertainment media news and information. 

The following policies have been put in place to benefit and protect our website as well as you as a site visitor. 

  • Advertisers are responsible for guaranteeing that their ads are satisfactorily substantiated and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. We reserve the right to refuse or remove all or part of an ad if it contains content that we believe to be false or illegal.
  • We also reserve the right to refuse or remove any advertising that is not in agreement with or may tend to bring ridicule, harm to reputation, or other damage to our brand.
  • Although we are open to discussing advertising partnerships with anyone, we will not waiver from certain standards. We will not accept any advertisements that are, in our opinion, any of the following:
    • Indecent, vulgar, suggestive, profane, or offensive.
    • Illegal products or services (i.e. drugs, illegal substances, etc.)
    • Hateful or violent text against any individual, group, or organization.
    • Personal attacks against an individual, country, or organization
    • Ads that disagree with the intellectual integrity, authority, and reputation of our brand.
  • We will not sell our visitors’ personal details to a third party.  Advertisers on our site may have access to your behavior via cookies, but not your data.
  • Ads are placed on the site based on where they best perform, and we will not use behavioral targeting unreasonably.  
  • We request that you don’t use ad blockers, as we can sometimes earn revenue based on views only.  It does not always require you to click it! 
  • Since advertisements are not always a reflection of The Nerd Stash’s views or beliefs, we will make our best effort to make sure all advertising content is distinguishable from editorial content.

Although we try, we cannot keep track of all the ads on our site. If you have a complaint about an ad for any reason, please contact us and let us know. We do not want to lose visitors due to offensive or inappropriate ads. 

We reserve the right to remove advertising content, with or without prior notice to the advertising client, at any time if it is not consistent with the policies described above, regardless of whether the advertising content has been accepted or displayed on our site for any period of time.

Partnerships

The Nerd Stash has the occasional opportunity to affiliate with other companies, brands, or organizations in our industry. Regardless of this affiliation, any content published that may be related to these entities will always be impartial. When necessary, the partnership or affiliation will be disclosed as part of our commitment to transparency.
